Jeff Wang
Dr. Jeff Wang has been a resident of Union City for the past 26 years. He is a well-known San Francisco Bay Area educator with more than thirty years of experience at major educational institutions. An immigrant from China, Jeff empathizes with immigrant families navigating the American educational system and actively supports them through outreach on mainstream and social media.
Jeff has dedicated his life to family and community service and is active in Union City’s quality-of-life initiatives. He advocates for affordable housing, business-friendly policies, and safer schools and parks, believing the City thrives when residents are fully engaged in local government decision-making.
Jeff earned his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the University of Wisconsin in 1989. His academic career includes teaching at Brown University, the University of Iowa, Brigham Young University, Stanford University, University of California Extension, and local community colleges. He has also worked professionally in cybersecurity.
As an entrepreneur, Jeff has founded educational companies that help students improve academic performance in science and mathematics, including students from low-income communities.
Jeff served as a trustee on the New Haven Unified School District Board from 2016 to 2020, during which he promoted Spanish and Mandarin immersion programs. His focus was on strengthening educational environments to improve student achievement.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeff applied his professional and philanthropic experience to support tutoring programs, food security initiatives, and donation drives benefiting students, seniors, and first responders in Union City.
