Jaime Patiño

Jaime Patiño is a lifetime resident of Union City. He grew up in the Decoto District and is raising his 17-year-old daughter there as a single parent. He attended schools in the New Haven Unified School District and graduated from James Logan High School in 1989. Jaime earned an associate degree in Business Administration and Administration of Justice from Chabot College, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from CSU Hayward, and an MBA from CSU East Bay. He also holds certificates in Human Resource Management and Project Management from CSU East Bay Extension.

While serving on the Union City Human Relations Commission from 2011 to 2018, Jaime was Chair from 2013 to 2016 and co-authored the City’s Compassionate City Resolution. He also served on the Itliong/Vera Cruz Renaming Committee, the Union City Police Department Strategic Plan Steering Committee, and the General Plan Advisory Committee.

Since 2014, Jaime has been a Union City Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member, responding to events including the SCU Lightning Complex Fire Base Camp in 2020.

Jaime previously served on the Centro de Servicios Board of Directors from 2016 to 2018 and continues to volunteer with the organization. He has served on the Board of Directors for Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center since 2013 and currently serves as Treasurer and Finance Chair.

Professionally, Jaime works as a Finance Manager for a national healthcare corporation, managing multi-million-dollar contracts and supporting access to healthcare services, including Medi-Cal Housing Navigation Center contracts.

As a Councilmember since 2018, Jaime serves on the Board of Directors for Ava Community Energy (formerly East Bay Community Energy) and has served on multiple committees, including the Marketing, Regulatory, and Legislative Subcommittee. He also previously served as a Board Director for StopWaste and as Second Vice President of the Alameda County Waste Management Authority.

Jaime represents Union City in the League of California Cities, participates in the Latino Caucus, and serves on governance and labor relations committees. He is also active with the National League of Cities and the National Association of Latino Elected Officials.
