Why CivicCause partners with the press

Residents depend on trusted local reporting to understand public decisions, institutions, elections, accountability, and community change. CivicCause does not replace that work. We organize civic context around it.

Publishers keep their editorial independence. Journalism remains on the publisher's platform. CivicCause helps residents discover how reporting connects to meetings, Causes, organizations, issues, and other civic records.

What partnership looks like

Partner Publishers receive public attribution, links to original articles, a public Publisher Page, Press Workspace access without a subscription fee, RSS stewardship tools, and direct support as the relationship matures.

Public RSS ingestion is separate from partnership. CivicCause may understand public reporting before a publisher becomes a Partner Publisher, and partnership should strengthen stewardship rather than create duplicate records.

Who the partnership is for

Partner Publisher applications are reviewed using CivicCause's institutional partnership criteria.

We look for organizations that regularly produce original civic or local reporting and are a good fit for the CivicCause ecosystem.

Application

Apply as a Partner Publisher

This lightweight application helps CivicCause understand the publication, community served, and practical setup needs. Approval is manual and does not create automatic workspace access.

Use the email and password you want associated with future Publisher Workspace access. These credentials do not grant access unless CivicCause approves the application. If you are already signed in with the applicant email, CivicCause will link the submission to that account.

What happens after you apply?

  1. Submit your application.
  2. CivicCause reviews your publication.
  3. If approved, you'll receive access to your Publisher Workspace.
  4. Complete your Publisher Profile and connect your RSS feeds.
  5. CivicCause begins discovering eligible articles and connecting them to relevant civic context.

What CivicCause is not

CivicCause is not a newsroom, CMS, advertising network, publisher website replacement, subscription-management platform, or institution that directs editorial coverage.

Articles always link readers to the publisher's original website. The relationship is partnership, not ownership.
