Alameda Point — A $1 Billion Development That Will Define the City's Future
active• alameda
The former Alameda Naval Air Station is the most consequential development opportunity in the city's history — and it is moving from planning into construction. Alameda Point Site A is a $1 billion mixed-use, transit-oriented waterfront development on 68 acres at the gateway of the former base, including 800 units in a variety of for-sale and rental housing configurations with 25% affordable, up to 500,000 square feet of commercial, maker, and resident-serving retail space, a new ferry terminal and ferry service to San Francisco, and site infrastructure raised to address sea level rise. The Planning Board is simultaneously studying new development in other portions of Alameda Point — an active process covered in the most recent community newscast from the Alameda Post. The Alameda Point Site A development, when fully built out, will add thousands of residents to a part of the island that has been largely dormant for three decades — fundamentally reshaping the city's western neighborhoods.
