Google's North Bayshore — A 30-Year Megaproject Begins

activemountainview
Mountain View approved the largest development project in its history in 2023: Google's North Bayshore Master Plan, covering 153 acres and including up to 7,000 housing units, 3 million square feet of office space, 26 acres of parks and open space, and a private district utility system — built out over 30 years under a Development Agreement. The project will transform what is currently a suburban office park into a walkable urban neighborhood. However, Google's parting of ways with its development partner Lendlease has raised questions about timeline and delivery. Mountain View currently provides the largest share of safe parking spots for vehicle dwellers in Santa Clara County — about 120 spaces — and the transformation of North Bayshore will reshape how the city manages that population as land use evolves.
