Bio

= Kristie Wang was elected to the Livermore City Council representing District 4 in November of 2024. Prior to her election, Kristie served on Livermore School Board, including one year as Board Clerk and two years on the State Delegate Assembly. During her four years on School Board, she served her entire term on the regional special education board (Tri-Valley SELPA) and the District’s Policy Committee, Algebra Task Force, Equity and Inclusion Committee, bIntergovernmental Committee, and Teacher Induction Program.

Kristie is active in several community organizations. She has been a volunteer domestic violence and sexual assault advocate for more than 13 years at Tri-Valley Haven. She is on the Board of the Tri-Valley Chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) and organizes the annual Juneteenth Festival at Bankhead Plaza with Tri-Valley for Black Lives. She completed the Leadership Livermore and Livermore Community Police Academy programs.

Kristie has built a career protecting the vulnerable by means of advocacy, policy, and politics. She has worked on policy at every level of government in Washington, D.C. and the Bay Area on issues such as education, women and children’s health, and U.S. national security. In 2018, to combat the epidemic of youth vaping, she teamed up with two other Livermore moms to nadvocate for the successful passage of the strongest tobacco control ordinance in the country, which she then worked to replicate throughout the Bay Area.

Kristie was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the Bay Area with her family when she was seven years old. She grew up working in her family restaurant. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public policy from the University of Chicago and Harvard Kennedy School. She and her husband moved to the Tri-Valley in 1999 and have been in Livermore for 18 years, where they raised their children.
