Bryan was awarded a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration from the University of Alberta (1983), became a CPA/Chartered Accountant (1985) and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Western Ontario (1991). Bryan worked for Ernst & Young (EY) Canada from 1983 through 1995, when he joined EY’s management consulting practice in San Jose. Subsequently, he worked for several start-ups and boutique management consulting firms in the Silicon Valley. Over his career, Bryan’s clients included Acer America, American Airlines, American Express, Apollo Group, Applied Materials, Bank of America, British Telecom, CSX Conrail, Electronic Arts, First Traders, Hewlett-Packard, LAM Research, Massey-Ferguson, Nova Scotia Power, Silicon Graphics and Sun Microsystems; client engagements took him to Argentina, Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Costa Rica, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom (U.K).

His wife Jo-Anne is the Chief Legal Officer with an artificial intelligence start-up focused on improving customer service. Nik graduated from Santa Clara University and joined Price Waterhouse Cooper’s (PwC) San Jose office in 2021 and is now an Audit Senior; he is a licensed CPA. Kate graduated from Presentation High School in 2020 and Columbia University in May 2025 (Math major and Philosophy minor); she is now in a Masters program (Mathematics) at the University of Toronto. Both Nik and Kate served on Monte Sereno’s Youth Commission.

Prior to being elected to City Council, Bryan served on Monte Sereno’s Site & Architectural Commission.

Currently, Bryan is a Director of Silicon Valley Clean Energy and Chair of the Audit Committee. He is Chair of West Valley Stormwater Authority, Chair of Santa Clara County’s Recycling & Waste Reduction Commission, and Vice Chair of West Valley Solid Waste Management Authority.
